About the Author
Leonard Ravenhill was born in 1907 in the city of Leeds, in Yorkshire, England. After his conversion to Christ, he was trained for the ministry at Cliff College. It soon became evident that evangelism was his forte, and he engaged it with both vigor and power. Eventually he became one of England's foremost outdoor evangelists. His meetings in the war years drew traffic jamming crowds in Britain, and great numbers of his converts not only followed the Savior into the Kingdom, but into Christian ministry and the world's mission fields.

In 1939 he married an Irish nurse named Martha. Together they had three sons. Paul and David are ministers, and Philip is a teacher. Leonard went home to be with the Lord in November of 1994.

a burning message from a burning heart!

I have read many christian books in the past, but this stands out. Bro Leonard did not beat about the bush. The chapters are short enough to be read in about fifteen minutes, but they are so packed that each may take you two solid hours to read. Every chapter is thought-provoking. Since I got the book in 1984, I have read it more than 30 times! And each time, it appears as if I never read it before. If you would read this book, be ready to end up upon your knees!

A bolt from the blue to the heart of a complacent Church

"A man ablaze."
There is no other way to describe Leonard Ravenhill. And as the man is, so are his writings. If you can read this book and not be driven to your knees, even as you rend your clothing, then buddy you're dead already!
A condensation of "Why Revival Tarries" into a few words would yield the truth that it's Man's fault alone. You see, God wants to pour out revival, to set all of us ablaze with the fire of His Spirit, but we are so oblivious to the truth that our hearts are totally turned away from Him that we cannot begin to acquire what He is so richly wanting to shower us with.
It starts with repentence - and not your mamby-pamby, watered-down 21st century style repentence, but the kind that tears a man or woman down to the soul, only to allow God to rebuild and reshape. Ravenhill argues that this is not something that happens overnight. If the Church wants revival, it's going to come with a cost. He proceeds to layout a compelling vision of that cost and the crucibles needed to hold what God will pour out.
No Christian library is complete without the works of Leonard Ravenhill, and the best place to start is with "Why Revival Tarries". Get it today and be prepared for the glory that will come.

One of the most convicting books I have ever read.

My husband was given a copy of "Why Revival Tarries" and "Revival Praying" when he joined a men's Bible Institute several years ago at a Baptist Church that we were in at that time. My husband read the book and would read certain passages out loud to me and I couldn't wait to read the books myself. We both have the books well underlined in several places and I have purchased the book since then for several people. A few years before we read these two books, I was listening to a Christian radio station on my way to a friends house. The preacher I heard on the radio was so powerful, that I literally had to pull over to the side of the road. The preacher was Leonard Ravenhill. He was preaching on America and television, etc. and he was so right about what he said about Christianity today. I beleive this is a life changing book and should be read by every Christan. Each time I reread the book, I am convicted again and long to be the Christian he speaks about and would love to see that kind of revival take place in our churces. You will never be the same once you have read what this tremendous man of God has said.

About the Author
Leon I. Hammer, M.D. is a graduate of Cornell University, Cornell Medical College, and the William A. White Institute of Psychoanalysis and Psychiatry. During the early 1970s he studied Chinese medicine in England with Dr. Richard Van Buren, and then apprenticed for eight years in New York and Massachusetts with Dr. John H.F. Shen, a widely recognized master of Chinese pulse diagnosis. Dr. Hammer practiced Chinese medicine until 1990, when he began teaching pulse workshops in the United States and abroad. He is the author of Dragon Rises, Redbird Flies, a study of the relationship between Chinese medicine and Western psychology, and is president of the Dragon Rises School of Oriental Medicine in Gainesville, Florida.

Completely new way of looking at emotional issues

I bought this for a gift for a friend who is an open minded psychiatrist. It's fascinating stuff. Emotional problems and mental illness are viewed and described through the prism of Oriental Medicine, which is interested in getting to the root cause. Some of it is a bit technical for those of us who don't have a background in Oriental thinking and medicine, but most of the book describes cases and is an interesting and thought provoking read for the intelligent layperson. Highly recommended for everyone interested in or dealing with mental/emotional problems. Fascinating and different.

Dr. Hammer is very informed & experienced with Chinese medicine. Great effort integrating Eastern time honored methods & principles with Western medicine. I wish he would address more regarding psychodynamic therapy given his training as a psychoanalyst as well. I believe that psychodynamic therapy, the abiltiy to very deeply understand another, is as transforming as Chinese medicine.

In the present book, the basics of imaging and diffraction in transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM) are explained in textbook style. The book focuses on the explanation of electron microscopic imaging of TEM and STEM without including in the main text distracting information on basic knowledge of crystal diffraction, wave optics, mechanism of electron lens, and scattering/diffraction theories, which are explained in detail separately in the appendices.  A comprehensive explanation is provided using Fourier transform theory. This approach is unique in comparison with other advanced textbooks on high-resolution electron microscopy.  With the present textbook, readers are led to understand the essence of the imaging theories of TEM and STEM without being diverted by facts about electron microscopic imaging. The up-to-date information in this book, particularly for imaging details of STEM and aberration corrections, is valuable worldwide for today’s graduate students and professionals just starting their careers.

About the Author
Dr. Nobuo Tanaka is a designated professor of Institute of Materials and Systems for Sustainability (IMaSS) of Nagoya University and an adjunct senior researcher of Japan Fine Ceramic Center (JFCC). He received a ph.D degree from Applied Physics Department of Nagoya University in 1978, and became an assistant professor of the department. He stayed Arizona State University as a visiting scholar to study with the late Prof. J. Cowley from 1983 to 1985. He was appointed a full professor of Applied Physics of Nagoya University in 1999 through an associate professor. In 2001, he moved to Center of Integrated Research for Science and Engineering (CIRSE) of Nagoya University, which was renamed EcoTopia Science Institute (ESI) in 2004. He was the director of the institute from 2012 to 2015. He is also the president of Japanese Microscopy Society (JSM) from 2015 to 2017. His professionals are high-resolution electron microscopy and nano-diffraction, and physics of atomic clusters and thin films as well as surfaces and interfaces of semiconductors. He is also the editor/author of a textbook as Scanning Transmission Electron Microscopy of Nanomaterials.

Must have for Nirvana/Kurt Cobain Fans

Nirvana fans will love this (although, be aware; most of the photos are of Kurt Cobain). The photography is excellent and candid; displayed in a "coffee-table" book style- large pictures and lots of them. Lots of black & white photos as well as color. The photos of Kurt with Frances as an infant will tug at your heart.

Not being a big fan of Nirvana, I wasn't sure what to get my sister for her birthday. My sister is a huge fan, you see, and she loves books with pictures. After searching far and wide for a book with Nirvana and pictures of Nirvana, I discovered this one.
If you are looking to buy a book with photos from the days of Nirvana, then this is the one for you. Not only does over half the book contain large pictures, they are all (most, there are a few in black and white) in color, and they are rare photos that don't appear as often as most others do.
This book is a great buy for the Nirvana fan. If you love Nirvana, you've got yourself a book.

Nirvana captured in the Raw.

This book is by far the nicest Nirvana book I own. It's a beautiful, thick paperback, with fantastic rare photographs. For a long time, the only Nirvana books around were information heavy, and focused a lot on Kurt's death. This book captures exactly what they were, A great band. Pure punk rock, pure soul, pure energy. It's a wonderful memory of a great band. You'd be mad not to buy this book.

Drawing on his ethnographic research over the past nine years, as well as the anthropology of violence, interdisciplinary security studies, and contemporary critical theory, he maintains that the mobilization of West African men exemplifies a global trend in the outsourcing of warfare and security operations. A similar dynamic underlies the political economy of violence in Iraq, Afghanistan, and a growing number of postcolonial spaces. An experienced photojournalist, Hoffman integrates more than fifty of his photographs of young West Africans into The War Machines.

I bought this book before it was on Amazon; I had seen Ole Dammegard’s meticulously researched video presentations and decided to get a copy of his work in writing. I’m so very glad I did. This stunning work is journalism at its best…dedicated decades in the making, and well worth the money. It is a must-have for any serious researcher’s collection and you won’t find these facts in the cartoon and cotton candy world of mainstream news. (We could only dream that today’s network journalists would ever put the time, thought and care into truth-telling at this level of sophistication.)
It takes patience to read, yes, but you’ll find the devil is indeed in the details. Questions are answered once and for all but, as the book’s description mentions, don’t accept it uncritically. Instead, use it as a launching point for your own research and study of these world-changing historical events. Once your eyes are opened, your processing of the daily news will never be the same.
I highly recommend this book. It’s pure gold.
