About the Author

Ludovic Seifert is Professor at the Faculty of Sport Sciences at the University of Rouen in France. He gained a PhD in expertise and coordination dynamics in swimming at the University of Rouen in 2003, then a certification to supervise research in 2010. He conducts his research in the field of motor learning and motor control. He is a mountain guide certified by IFMGA.

Peter Wolf studied sports engineering at the Chemnitz University of Technology, Germany, and carried out his PhD thesis on foot biomechanics at the Institute for Biomechanics, ETH Zurich, Switzerland. For the last few years, he has been the Scientific Coordinator of the SMS-Lab, ETH Zurich. His research interests include (i) the design of sport simulators in virtual environments, (ii) the development of devices measuring performance in sports and motor learning and (iii) the establishment of augmented, real-time feedback displays facilitating motor learning of complex tasks.

Andreas Schweizer is Deputy Head of Hand Surgery at the Balgrist University Hospital, Zurich, Switzerland. He is adept in wrist surgery, surgery on peripheral nerves, surgical treatment of hand fractures, ultrasound on the hand, and 3D computer aided analysis of malunions. Currently, he is also the medical advisor for the technical committee of the Swiss Alpine Club.

Kjell B. Zandin is a senior vice president of H.B. Maynard & Company. He was the first recipient of the Technical Innovation in Industrial Engineering Award of the Institute of Industrial Engineers. Mr. Zandin was also awarded the Royal Charter Award of the Institution of Production Engineers in Great Britain. Creator of the MOST� Systems of work measurement, used worldwide, he has 35 years of consulting experience in industrial engineering. Mr. Zandin has been an owner and director of H.B. Maynard and Company for the past 20 years. The late Harold B. Maynard was the founder of the H.B. Maynard Company of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and a major contributor to the advancement of the industrial engineering profession.

A Reference

It's got it all, and as big as it is, it should! IE's who really do industrial engineering should have access to one of these, unless you kept all of your textbooks from school. I'm an IE who went into sales for 12 years before doing engineering, so I would be lost without this book. Only problem is it's size.

A generic and almost useless manual

I've been a professional IE for more than 15 years and I bought this "manual" thinking that it would actually be a summary of the most important tools used in this profession, but I realized that it is not. It is way to general and it has lost most of the formulas and calculations that are required as an IE. There is too much wording and too little math. If you are a manager and you don't care for the how to, this is good for you. If you are in the field, and you need a quick reference on how to calculate things and how to implement them , you got to look for another book.

El voluminoso libro consiste en un compendio de diferentes art�culos que cubren m�ltiples aspectos del campo de la Ingenier�a Industrial, todos ellos descritos por autoridades en la materia (principalemente profesores de Universidad).

Justamente es el enfoque lo que hace ser un texto casi de introducci�n para cada uno de los temas tratados. La amplitud de los temas, son de tal calibre que o bien la descripci�n queda corta o bien el autor quiere incluir el m�ximo de detalle que llega a ser intratable como introducci�n.

Cada uno de los cap�tulos, son de por s� temas que merecen una descripci�n m�s detallada en libros por separado.

Para mi gusto, el mismo objetivo se cubre ampliamente en los libros del profesor Roger G. Schroeder (Operations Management), con una did�ctica much�simo m�s clara y con ejemplos m�s actualizados.

Very Helpful for the Teacher

I am teaching a Bible class on Genesis right now and I searched and searched for a suitable commentary. What I found was a bit of a gap in Genesis commentaries right now. Anchor, Word, and NICOT have not published an up-to-date Genesis commentary in several decades, while other series such as Concordia, Apollos, and Hermeneia have not yet published a Genesis commentary.

So I started asking my professors and doing some searching on my own. Eventually I stumbled across this commentary, read some very positive reviews (especially one by the Society of Biblical Literature), liked the inexpensive price, and picked it up.

It has been extremely helpful and incredibly beneficial so far. McKeown writes well and tackles all of the major issues in Genesis. While avoiding super technical issues, he does not gloss over the language, which I appreciate very much. When McKeown discusses the Hebrew, the Hebrew word or phrase is written out and also includes a transliteration. He draws the most important theological points out of a passage and gives great insights. The first half of the book is a clear and succinct, paragraph by paragraph commentary. The second half of the book is an immensely interesting series of essays and excursuses on important topics in Genesis and in Genesis studies, such as the relation of modern science to the Genesis narrative.

Until a comprehensive, technical commentary comes out in the Concordia, Apollos, or Hermeneia series, this one in the Two Horizons series will do very nicely when I must preach or teach from Genesis. It is a delight.

A great commentary that succeeds in its goal.

This is an excellent commentary that focuses on practical implications of the text. While not heavy on examining linguistic structure and providing a comprehensive analysis on every phrase, this commentary still manages to communicate difficult aspects of the text while remaining focused on literary and theological issues as well. This commentary reads very easily and is exceptionally well-written.

Excellent work

I was delighted to read by James McKeown's commentary on Genesis. I think his theological approach is original and important since it offers a much more interesting alternative than the old stale JPED approach, which in my opinion is too pedantic to ever be spiritually uplifting.

It would be nice if more biblical scholars made the effort to stress the theological dimensions of the text in their commentaries.

A nice encyclopedia of metaphysical, mind-body healing relationships and the psychospiritual messages your body is relaying

Your Body's Telling You: Love Yourself is a book by metaphysical healer and teacher Lise Bourbeau. This is an encyclopedic guide to mind-body healing and the metaphysical roots of illness and disease. First published in 1997, the most recent print edition is from 2002. This book examines the subconscious reasons why we get sick or injured and the symbolic meaning inherent in the parts of our body and the symptoms we experience. Following the introductory portion of the book there is an alphabetical listing of numerous health issues and the accompanying physical block, emotional block, mental block, and spiritual block that may be present with that condition. Bourbeau has spent many years compiling this information and has maintained a personal growth school in Quebec, helping thousands of people help themselves and others to heal.

This book makes it easy to research any particular symptoms or health concerns you may have and get some insight into how your field of consciousness is creating that pattern or physical reflection. Bourbeau concludes the book with a section where she states that "The only path to complete and permanent healing is through self-forgiveness. This is the only step powerful enough to let go of your illness on every level, as it addresses not only your self-love but also the very heart and blood in your physical body." The author also provides a brief list of recommend references, which includes the best-selling You Can Heal Your Life, from Louise Hay.

Common themes in this book include the discussion of early childhood experiences and how they were processed foster future illness. Bourbeau also addresses the role of Soul memories ("past-life" memories) and genetic or ancestral consciousness patterns in manifesting illness. Furthermore, she discusses the role of cultural beliefs and mass consciousness in patterns of illness, such as infectious disease epidemics. There is a lot of valuable insight in what she shares, while she points out that those conditioned to follow their ego self and place external blame on their situation will tend to reject what this type of book offers. In truth, the metaphysical perspective is the one that is truly empowering and supportive of genuine healing. There are many stories in our world of miraculous healings for those who embrace this approach.

This book is quite valuable in helping us look more deeply at things and recognize that physical reality is a projection, a reflection of what we carry in our consciousness. It does not mean we should not address things on a physical level - it just encourages us to take steps toward addressing issues at their deepest levels. Bourbeau's book offer specific suggestions for ways to shift our consciousness and for steps to embrace forgiveness.

This book is available as a paperback and ebook, and is available in many different languages. For those that wish to examine this subject even further there are additional books I would recommend. Books that explore German New Medicine, Biogenealogy/Biodecoding, and the books of Michael J. Lincoln, Ph.D. (Messages From The Body, and others), are valuable guides to decoding the underlying meaning and messages in your body's symptoms. In fact, Lincoln's Messages From The Body book is really the most comprehensive reference book currently available in this field, although it is just available as a spiral bound book and not as an electronic book. Bourbeau's book is a more condensed presentation on this subject, one that may be easier to read and to fit on your book shelf.
