Best FE book!

There are tens of FE books around. About 5-6 decent books, but really only one outstanding: Bathe’s book. It is not an encyclopedia, but just explains efficient and reliable FE procedures that really always work.
The style is superb. It focuses on the physical meaning of the procedures and of the equations; very appealing for engineers who want to really know what they are doing, not just solving equations. To this end, simple worked examples are carefully chosen to bring insight into the formulations. The text explains the significance of expressions and results. It is excellent for advanced graduate and post-graduate students. It is also a “must have” in the shelf of anyone working on Finite Elements.
I have a copy at home and this 2nd Ed. in the office. The second edition is an update with no increase in size (nice!). He deleted some outdated material and added some recent relevant findings.
