By turns passionate and desperate, tragic and triumphant--the life of Lorrie Morgan could easily have been lifted from the lyrics of a classic country song. Now, in Forever Yours, Faithfully, Lorrie shares all the pleasure and the pain of her remarkable career and her turbulent, consuming love for doomed, brilliant blue-grass star, Keith Whitely.
Lorrie Morgan was born to be a country music star. Thanks to a father who was also a Grand Ole Opry legend, Lorrie grew up in the shadows of such country greats as Minnie Pearl and Roy Acuff. Inspired by such talent and nurtured in a stable home, she sang at the Opry when she was only thirteen years old. In a voice all her own, Lorrie takes us inside the country music world where she would rise to become Nashville gold.
Over the next several years, Lorrie's home life was to become a lot less stable. When Lorrie was twenty-two years old, she heard a voice on the radio--and fell under its seductive spell. That voice belonged to singer Keith Whitely. They soon met, left their respective marriages, and started a life that Lorrie hoped would be "happily ever after." Yet it was a relationship marred by dark moods, drinking, and drugs, as Lorrie, blinded by devotion, refused to see that she was hopelessly in love with a chronic alcoholic. She stayed by his side until his untimely death in 1989--only to be hit with a second blow: the shocking news of Keith's infidelities.
With amazing insight and candor, Lorrie opens her heart, answering such personal questions as: Who was with Keith when he died? What actually killed him? How does one reconcile the "man of your dreams" with the man in real life? And perhaps most important: Can he be forgiven? Fortunately, Lorrie's life did not end after Keith's death. Her star went on to shine even brighter. She rose to superstar status as a singer and, eventually, true love came calling again.
Beloved, betrayed, and ultimately resilient, Lorrie Morgan has written a painfully honest memoir about rising above and moving on. Forever Yours, Faithfully resonates with emotion and the power of the human spirit.

Amazon.com Review
Lorrie Morgan's life might have been lifted from one of the country songs for which she is famous. "I was in love with his voice before I saw his face," this love story opens. (If you don't know who Lorrie Morgan is, by the second page she lets us get our Nashville bearings: "I was no novice. Twenty-seven years old, I had been singing in this town literally half my life. I was George Morgan's daughter.") She falls in love with talented country singer Keith Whitley, who, in turn, falls in love with the bottle; it's marriage on the rocks, as Keith descends into alcoholism. In the process of extracting and wearing her heart on her sequined sleeve, Lorrie Morgan tells about life with father, growing up under the charms of the Grand Ole Opry, country countenances beheld along the way, and, of course, that rocky road: love, betrayal, and untimely death.
Review
This heavily padded memoir details her three and a half years with Keith Whitley (her pathetic but gifted second husband, who drank himself to hillbilly heaven in 1989). Morgan offers unsavory details about Whitley's last days and dishes the skinny on dating Kenny Rogers, Troy Aikman, and Tennessee senator Fred Thompson. But she doesn't do much soul-searching about the four marriages she's racked up by age 38. -- Entertainment Weekly
From the Publisher
If you can still get one of the now rare first editions of this book, you won't be sorry. We had the super idea of binding a collector's edition CD into the back of the book. Lorrie toured tirelessly to promote and signed thousands of copies for her fans who would line up around the block to see her. One event she signed standing up for over five hours!

HONEST STRAIGHT ACCOUNT OF LOVING AN ALCOHOLIC
By A Customer
I think Lorrie Morgan is to be applauded for her wllingness to be quite frank and open about a very sensitive part of her life. She could have skimmed over the details and given us a "polished up" account of her time with Keith, but she did not. Instead, she poured out her heart and soul, revealing things I am sure most people would have tried to keep to themselves. I feel by telling things about her years growing up, it gave us real insight into why a young woman would try so hard to hold on to a marriage that had so many trials and testings. She had seen a great love story in her parents marriage, experienced some of the pain of her sister's marriage and had already gone through the devastation of one bad marriage that lead to divorce. She believed that through her love for Keith, and his love for her, they could overcome all the demons that were attacking their marriage. I feel that Lorrie told how both she and Keith loved one another so much that they were willing to try to make the dream come true. It had to be very difficult for Lorrie to expose so many personal and intimate details, but I believe she wanted to do more with this book than "set the record straight". I believe she wanted to let other people living through similar circumstances know that they are not alone in their despair. There is help for all parties involved in a situation involving addiction to any substance. Lorrie felt her love could cure their problems and she was unfortunate enough to find out it would have to be Keith's love for himself that could have changed the ending. Her struggles with her feelings of quilt, her ability to survive and rise above all the obstacles that came after losing Keith should help to give hope, strength and courage to other women and men who have lived, or are living, through the struggle of loving an alcoholic. It took great courage to tell this love story and it will help many to survive and get the help that they need. Addition can cause a person to do strange things--drink mouthwash, cologne, cough syrup and even cause them to do things while under the influence that they would never do normally. Lorrie showed us both sides of Keith Whitley and much to her sorrow the outcome of his dependency. She also tried to encourage people to reach out and get the help they need. Thank you Lorrie Morgan, for bearing all to try to help us!!

Great Book
By A Customer
I have been a fan of both Lorrie and Keith for several years. Keith was a great entertainer as is Lorrie. I have seen Lorrie in concert but didn't have the opportunity to see Keith perform live. I am sorry to have to admit that; but I did love to hear him sing and he had a lot of talent dispite what some of the readers of Lorries book might think. I am proud to say that I read her story, and I do think that it took a great amount of courage to sit down and tell the true story behind what many fans might have viewed as the perfect couple. Entertainers are people too and they do deserve to be treated as such. I belonged to Keiths fan club while he was living; so I can tell those of you that might doubt his love for his wife and two children; You are wrong for doing that because his true fans know that Lorrie and the children were often mentioned in his news letters. Lorrie deserves credit for the honest story that she told and Keith would have appreciated her and loved her that much more if he were here today. I am not a drinker myself, but I do have a few friends that have the problem, and I will say that since I have read Lorries story, I am better able to deal with the people that I care so much about. Thank You Lorrie.

Lorrie Needs Dr. Laura's "Ten Stupid Things Women Do...."
By A Customer
Lorrie Morgan loved Keith Whitley. So she lets us readers know that he loved frequenting porn shops while he was drunk. He drank cologne and hair spray to quench his desire for alcohol. He begged another women for sexual favors the night before he died. This is a love story? In between such revelations, Morgan portrays herself as a victim throughout her relationship with Keith Whitley, claiming that she "loved " him too much to ever leave him. (I wonder why she didn't think of her children living with and seeing a passed-out father time and time again--especially since she brags about how perfect her relationship with her daughter is).. Another weakness about this "love story" is that Lorrie carries on so positively about herself (let's not forget the invaluable info she gives on staying slender), to the point that her values are twisted around her own desires. One example is when she phoned the one-night-stand-bimbo whom Keith had his last affair with, she prides herself on calling the bimbo every dirty name in the book. Keith's entourage verbally applauds her for this deed. Yet, only a few years later, she has an affair with a married Kenny Rogers. I guess the fact that Kenny "loved" her made a difference.
I suppose the real problem with this book is Lorrie herself. I don't think she really knows what a real "love" story is.
